yup. if you do put oil into the cylinder, don't do a compression test on it, the oil will go into the compressor gauge and ruin it. I was foolish and did this on a car, then when I used the tester on another car, the oil had contaminated it and I was getting false readings.

 

I missed his post about compression, and if a machine shop did any honing you should have let them measure and tell you the piston size after they were done depending on how much they took out you may need to run over sized rings

not to sure what your saying but I went with oversized pistons and they did the machining with the new pistons.

I think he meant, that you gave the shop new standard pistons and the shop honed the block and they just used the standard size when in reality you needed per sized.

but if you got over sized pistons, the shop should've got over sized rings too.

did you properly torque the heads down in a proper sequence? should start tightening in the middle bolts at a low torque and work your way to the outward bolts then re torque in the same sequence at a higher torque. then torque down one last time in the same sequence at the final torque spec.

Have you done a compression test on ALL THE cylinders?

 

I went with .020" overbore wesico pistons and they come with their own rings. yea I went in sequence for the head studs. no I haven't done the comp test. car is not at my place. I'm done messing with it so I'm taking it to a performance shop next week. once they figure the issue I'll let everyone know here. thanks again for all the advice and tips. they were greatly appreciated.

so last weekend i took the car to a shop. the other day they took my lower oil pan off to check and redo the timing and when they did, they found alot of metal in the oil. keep in mind this motor hasnt ran since being put together. this coming up week they are gonna pull the motor and tear it apart to see what all is damaged.once i find out more i will post up here.

oil ring was bent when Installed in cylinder and while cranking so much the ring cut a groove into the cylinder thus making metal go into oil pan and this not giving compression this not being able to start this resulting in you needing a new block or bigger pistons.

sorry i never updated this. the bearings on the motor were shot and thats where the metal shavings came from. car hasnt been up since this. so pretty much a $2200 motor build went to crap and was never used. i went and got a running motor and now trying to get that in to get my g up and running
