Loose brake caliper

Hey so I've got an 05 5at coupe and lately I've been having a problem! I started hearing a metal ringing sound when hitting my brakes so I immediately garaged my car and did my best at recreating this scary noise. Turned out my passenger front brake caliper was loose (I can manipulate it back and forth about 1 or 2mm). I went ahead and tried tightening it but as most of you know the bolts are only threaded halfway before the threads stop so it ony went so far but sure enough it was still loose. I disassembled the entire assembly and didn't see anything wrong so after cleaning all the parts I went and reinstalled it but it is still loose so I don't know where to go from here.

The noise I hear isn't extremely severe but I'm careful to listen for anything out of the ordinary with my vehicle.

They are stock calipers

Thanks for reading and hopefully someone can give me a tip, pointer, or any sort of insight here

Where would I determine that? I removed the rotor and shook it but it wasn't loose.

wait, your caliper bolts should go in all the way... and are you sure your not just shaking around the floating portion of the caliper? finally, do you need a brake job?

Well the bolts I'm talking about are only threaded halfway up the bolt, brake pads look good if that's what constitutes a brake job, I probably am wiggling the floating part and that'd be embarrassing but that doesn't explain the noise

Does your wheel wiggle if its jacked up but all the lugs are tight?

A bad hub should not affect the caliper. If the treading on the dolts is good, I would just add a washer and see how that works.

I can by hitting the side of the tire with a hammer, the caliper rattles badly, ill try the washer method and see what happens
