OEM manufacturer for starter motor?

Whoever gave them the best price for that order of starters. Manufacturers of cars source parts from more than one source that conform to the specifications that the manufacturer provides. They have to do this simply because what happens if your one source of starters dries up? Do you let your assembly line sit idle while trying to find a new source??
So - I understand wanting to find an exact replacement and I assume that something is going on with your present starter. If it is still starting the car, I would suggest picking up another starter at a wrecking yard and taking it to a local rebuilder to have it redone then swapping them out. When or if you ever need it you can get the original rebuilt. Most of the time you will get a better job this way than just buying off the shelf rebuild parts at the parts store.
