Went to lunch today...all was well. Get the light waiting on it to change...all is well. Light turns green and my car would not GO! it was like it was in drive and gas pedal wasn't being pushed so i just idled down to the next turn off. As i turned into parking lot the car woke up and took off like normal. Parked it while running and sounded smooth. Turned key off to look around and when i tried to start the car I had Zero power...could not get windows up...key fob would not work...trunk button wouldn't work. Messed around with all the fuses and nothing blown. Multimeter showed 12.56 volts. this went on for about an hour and then it started right up. Started to roll out and it did it again...just died! Messed around with battery cables...got it fired up and back to work. Cleaned the terminals really well. Drove home with a knot in my stomach of fear it would do it again but i made it...any ideas? This has never happened before! thanks!

 

It showed 12v while running? If so the alternator is bad.

 

Did you check your ground connections? I know the stock cable and ground location sucks, I had to put a new cable in several years ago.

 

thanks for the feedback...the ground looked good and was secured well. I left work yesterday afternoon in DC traffic for about 45-50 minutes of stop and go traffic and all seemed fine and arrived home un-stranded. I will start car this afternoon (as I am on the motorcycle today) and pull the + off and see what happens. Helicopter mechanics at work think the terminals were lose/corroded. Cleaned them before my ride home and all was well...just hate the feeling of an unreliable vehicle
