Is the compressor cycling off or staying on when it gets hot?

What does the ambient outside temperature read?

I suggest taking the vehicle to Nissan for a diagnostic, it's a very complicated system that includes ambient sensors, sunload sensor, 9 different switches, a variable pitch compressor, a PCB/ROM digital controller using CAN to talk to the BCM, ECM, and IPDM and a lot of various other components that are difficult to troubleshoot. The dealership Consult-II tool has an automatic test function that will tell you exactly what the problem is, additionally they can look at all the values for things like the ambient temp sensor to see what value it's sending back.

You can try using the AC diagnostic mode but I doubt it's going to help you much, section ATC - Automatic Air Conditioner in the FSM. Look for "diagnostic mode".

HOWEVER, if your outside ambient sensor is not functioning properly and displaying the correct outside temp then the system WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY. It uses both sensors to determine if cold/hot outside air is injected into the system. Try unplugging the sensor and look for any corrosion in the harness or on the sensor. When you plug the sensor back in it will display the maximum temp value which is like 125F for about an hour until it recalibrates.
