How much gas is needed to put on full when the guage is slightly below a ¼ tank?
SubscribeIm just curious as I was thinking I was about to run out of gas at anytime. It was first showing just below a quarter tank. No light came on and I kind of hit this dip pretty hard and got a little bit of air. After than it went back above a ¼ tank. I know I managed to drive damn near 60 miles until I made it to where I always get my premium. It makes a difference as premium prices differentiate between $1.96-$2.16 a gallon. Everywhere else it's easily $2.60-$2.90 a gallon. So when I fill up it does make a difference in savings. I know I was slightly above the point before the gas light comes on. I only put $30 in premium 93 octane, well I split it. I put $20 of 93 which came to about 9.26 gallons. Then I put $10 of 89 octane to average 91 octane which was an additional 4.4 gallons. So that's like 13.66 gallons I put in the tank for $30. I was well below a ¼ tank, but this put me at complete full on the guage. Maybe 1 gallon give or take? If it's a 20 gal tank then I had atleast 6.5 gallons in my tank at slightly below ¼ tank. This puts me at ease a bit, so I know that whenever the light does come on, that I should definitely have anywhere between 2-5 gallons in reserve. I always try to keep my fuel levels at half a tank to keep the fuel pump submerged for the most part. It worth it for me to drive a little out of my way to get the cheapest premium in town, hell in North Texas period. It is walmart gas and I've yet to have any issues using this gas. I don't think Murphy and Walmart use the same gas. My gf used to work as an attendant at a Kroger has station. They actually used Exon gas but it was always way cheaper. Need to look into what type of gas Walmart is using. Just because I'm saving anywhere from $6-$10+ everytime I fill up, is it even worth it in the long run? I used to be a real gas snob when it came to sports cars I've owned in the past. So far so good, using this walmart gas. I often will fill it all the way with the 93 octane, but usually will mix it's with a 75/25 ratio of 93 and 89 octane. The car doesn't make a difference, hell I don't think it really can tell the difference. My mother has an 09 Nissan Murano and she only uses 87 octane. Her ride drives fine and even has a little umph to it. I know it uses a varient of the VQ35DE that's in my G35. Hell she even gets better gas milage than mine. Then again I have a tendency to have a led foot. Im just curious in what gas everyone prerfers? Is it really worth it to go out of my way to continue using this walmart gas since it's usually anywhere from 40 to 70 cents cheaper per gallon. So far I havent heard anything negative about this walmart gas. I used to be a snob like I stated previously, would only use Chevron, Shell, or Exon Mobile. Now I'm at a point that if it's not broke than don't fix it. Have yet to receive any bad gas from Walmart. Haven't noticed any pinging or knocking. The octane seems to be right as I know alot of gas stations are notorious about lying about the specs of the gas they are selling. To me, gas just isn't gas, my G35X is currently at 208.500k miles. It's still going strong, sounds sick, I'm keeping the stock cat back system and I'm getting test pipes and possibly headers because they are only $80 so why not. I have a CAI set up, along with iridium plugs, 5/16th plenum spacer. So it sounds aggressive as is but minus that annoying *** rice trumpet sound. My ride has this deep growl and rumble to it that stands out. I want to maintain that stock sound, just add a little more aggression to the sound. The worst thing with my ride is the rack and pinion is leaking bad! Plus I have a torn out boot on my driver's side CV Axles. Yes I have awd, my maintenance is caught up and it drives like a champ. I simply love this car, I'm just curious in what kind of gas you guys all use. Does or will it actually make that much of a difference? Just curious, appreciate y'all time in answering my dumb *** questions. Im geniunely curious in what you guys prefer to use is all. I haven't had no issues with this Walmart gas yet. I definitely think it's better than Racetrac, QT, and a few other places. My gf thinks I'm crazy if I drive 4-5 miles out of my way to fill up with this Walmart gas. Hell it saves me easily anywhere from 6-10 bucks. But if it's actually crap then I'm doing more harm than good. The engine is surprisingly clean when I took it apart to install the Blox 5/16 spacer. I've noticed a huge difference and it now how this nice deep rumble to it. Could only imagine how it'd sound with exhaust but I don't want that rice trumpet sound. I want to keep the way it rumbles with the stock set up, albeit with it being a bit more louder. I appreciate anyone's two cents on this subject. Im sure it's been played out, but cut me a break. Im really curious and open to ideas. Appreciate all of y'alls time, have a good one. Take care and be safe out there guys/girls.

I'm on my third Infiniti since December 2005. I've never used premium. I use WaWa regular 87 locally and Loves Travel Stops and Pilot when driving to Florida from NJ.
Your gf is correct and you should listen to her. You are wasting lots of money using premium.
Walmart gas,Racetrac, and WaWa gas. It is all the same shyt and comes from the same place.
