pinging from costco gas

Anyone else here buys super gas from Costco Iwilei? I usually drive with my windows up with the a/c on but recently on a drive with the windows down I noticed what I thought was pinging as I was accelerating. I turned down the tunes and sure enough it was pinging and with just myself in the car without the a/c on. My g is still fairly new having only 5k miles, anyone else have this problem? And is this something for the stealership to look at or try another gas station or octane boost.

^^Bah it's all in the head lol...nah j/k. Anyway tesoro seems like it give me better gas mileage, and chevron has the worst gas mileage from my experience. Don't ever use costco cause like jdb said it's gas from aloha. When I had my eclipse I did a few test on which gas gave the best performance or rather less knock. I data logged a full tank of gas on chevron, 76, and tesoro, never tried shell though. And on all test on the same amount of boost I got the least knock on 76. Take it as a grain of salt though cause there could always be 100s of different factors.

In my experiance, gauged with the 5.3L V8 in my truck, I got the best gas mileage from using 92 Octane gas from the following gas stations in order:

1. 76 most expensive though
2. Chevron
3. Aloha

and only in emergencies when you get lazy and wait till you have to absolutely fill up.

4. Shell
5. Tesoro

If you guys have access to military base gas. Don't use that crap it's cheap gas. I don't use Costco gas either.

JMO guys.

Oh that's right... For all the guys boosting 76 is the better gas to go with... past experience with all the boosted friends cars and them running at the track...

^ 76 buys from both Tesoro & Chevron and then they add their own additives.
