Kauai vs Maui

Hello. I am from So Cal and will be taking a babymoon with my husband in May. Our options are either take vacation in Kauai or Maui. We both been to Oahu and Maui, this will be out third time in Hawaii. We don't mind going Maui again ( who would?), but never been to Kauai before. From what I read online, Kauai isn't very developed and that there aren't that many shops/restaurants like Maui. So considering I am expecting, which location is better?

Kauai is very secluded, more romantic than others but they literally roll-up the sidewalks around 8PM....so not much going on at night. But then agaon Maui has some undevloped area also, I'd say Kauai.

Go with Maui... Kauai's night life sucks... Everything closes early... I really like maui... I've been to every island once and i like MAui and Oahu the best...

or stay in maui and take a plane to kauai for a day or so. right now interisland flights can be as low as $30 one way.

Traffic on Kauai sucks ***. Go for Maui, but keep your head on a swivel when you drive there, the drivers are terrible.

Come back to Oahu, theres no way you were able to do everything with that one trip. i think kauai and maui are islands you can do everything there is to do in one trip.

I've been to Kaui and Maui and I don't feel the need to go back. I live in Oahu now and haven't come close to seeing or doing everything here. What about the Big Island?

Me, beangrower, and vision808 are originally all from Kauai, but like everyone says, night life sux, and its very secluded. Try living there all your life and going to high school there. sux. But it is definately a nice place if you want to go to uncrowded beaches, natural pathed hikes, and awesome waterfalls.

You can see all of Kauai in one weekend. If your trip is longer than that, I would suggest spending the rest of your time on Maui or Oahu.

What exactly do you want to do? Every island has a different "feel" to it. If you just want to relax and do nothing, then Kauai, Lanai, and the Big Island are the best. If you want to relax, but do some stuff then Maui is good. But if you want to do and see a lot of things, eat a lot of good food, party a lot then Oahu is your choice.
