They told us to stay away from certain parts of the island. And they even warned us about southern part of Big Island (Black Sands) or something like that. Told us that we gonna get robbed by locals over there

We were too busy exploring northern, eastern and western sides of the island. Never made it down south, we felt too lazy.......laying all day on the beach seemed like so much more fun.

 

^^not sure about the big island cus im from oahu. but some places where its known as a local hot spot they will be less tolerant of irritating tourists but as long as ur nice and repectful they return the aloha

 

Area is OK. It is not close to shopping malls. Closest would be Kaanapali...........well OK I guess it's pretty close.

Anyhow when you folks drive on Maui, be very very careful. When I used to work there I would nearly be in, or witness a near accident at least once a week.
