Possible to drive your car up to Mauna Kea summit for a photoshoot?

I know its a crazy idea, but has anyone here on the Big Island actually ever drove there G up there for a photoshoot?

most of us are on oahu so sorry buddy. i dont know how the roads are or are u even allowed to drive up? idk

I've driven all the way upto the summit and parked right next to the observatory before. It's a long *** drive. take a un open bag of potato chips with you. on the way up it will pop...sounds like your tire just exploded, scared the **** out of me. also put a cap on a empty water bottle at the top, by the time you get back to sea level it'll be completly collapsed.

thought you needed a 4x4 to get up there. heard the roads were pretty bad.

DHCrocks, wow you actually drove your g35 up to the summit? unbelievable! Did you manage to take any shots of your car up there?

if the hawaii super ferry still here and go there i would take my car up in Hilo. they have some nice road up there. From Kona to Hilo. a good 6miles of turns but some spots dont have guardrail. If u mestup dats it.

nyckid, i see your post all over in the regional threads. do u live on big island? just wondering.. i see your location in houston but wasmaybe thought your going to big island for vacation and planning on renting a G?

yeah I wish the Super Ferry was still open and go to Maui and drive down Haleakala road

nah I had a rental, it a was a jeep grand cherokee. but I think any car should be able to make it up, the roads aren't that bad. I did notice that I had to floor it and still the car didn't have any power. The air is just too thin way up there.

No I don't, but I was planning on moving their one day. I really love it there. Such a beautiful place. I'm jealous of you guys who get to live there.
