Questions on FI gauges

I wanted to pick the brains of the more knowledgeable out there. What do you folks like to see in gauges to monitor a FI engine? I'm thinking about APS TT and want to monitor the critical systems so if the engine is acting funky I don't grenade it.

Haven't even looked at these in detail yet.

Wideband O2 AF

I'm thinking (1) wideband O2 AF, (2) boost, (3) oil pressure, (4) fuel pressure. Any comments on systems to monitor, manufacturers of gauges/sensors, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

So GZ, are you gonna pull the trigger on an APS TT? cool. Are you ordering it from that APS dealer/installer in Cali with the G adapter pack?

I've read that they are coming out with the entire power pack this summer for the G...FMIC, TT, exhaust....not sure about talboy plenum....

imo, i'd go with the defi, or blitz guages. a wideband o2, boost, oil, and fuel are vital to have. depending on the system's, i'd look into a pinging detection device.

I say go full stand alone and use sequential fuel injection with F.A.S.T. You just need a laptop on board to monitor realtime values off the laptop.

I am very seriously looking at it docron. I'm thinking I'll go with Revolution although when I spoke to them today they indicated that they'll need to get some training for the boys first. So it does not look like they've done the install on any VQ motor yet.

Sen_jen, any recommendations on the pinging detection?

636Racer, I was thinking of going with a fully built engine, but since I am so new to FI engine upgrades I didn't want to put my faith in someone with $15k to $20k only to have them turn my engine into the new Hiroshima. If there is someone that has a ton of experience with VQ's I'd seriously consider going with a fully tuned and built engine. Until then I want to be on the safe side since I am expecting this to be a daily driver.

Thanks for the input guys.

check out gman's last post in the thread...are these realistic costs for the TT install?

why don't you have your car shipped to cali and have them install it. as for guages boost controller, boost guage, oil, and water temp in my opinion and I would get the defi. If i had the choice i have gotten the APS instead of the PE. the APS is a complete kit

Mdnt, shipping only for my car would run about $2k(?). For that money it's cheaper if I flew someone in, put them up in a hotel, and paid for their meals. The other downside is that I'd be without a car for something like a month.

I will be sitting down with Revolution in the next week or so to get a firm idea of what everything will cost. So this is a feeler to see what you folks think about gauges so I can get that hammered out when we meet.

Thanks guys.

Or you could find out of A'pexi is making a PowerFC for the VQ and still keep the car streetable.
defi makes a nice set of guages too. hit up MunkyWurks and drop my name and see if they'll give you a good price. Most people usually do.
As for people I'd trust handling the VQ, I'd iquire with Niztech. The Olibros brothers know their sh*t when it comes to Nissans. I'm pretty sure they've been very well exposed to the VQ. Especially Steve-O one the D1 Circuit.
