2006 exhaust on 2003.5??

My 2003 G35 is in the shop for some recall work, and I have a 2006 as a loaner. Beside the interior being twice as nice as my 2003, the exhaust sounds awesome! What can I do to my 2003 to get the same tone?? I don't want anything loud, just a bit more throaty than the stock 2003 exhaust. I cannot get over how good the 2006 sounds, although I think my car is faster!!!

i'm just questioning this...but could it be that your exhaust has miles on it and the 06 barely has any?

The 2006 is definately louder than my 2003, much more throaty. Does the exhaust get quieter with more miles??? The 2006 almost sounds like a 360 Modena. I heard a few soundclips of the HKS muffler, and it sounds close.

When they came out with the 05, they upgraded the exhaust to a fujisubo exhaust hence the added 8 or so HP. I believe the 06 has the same exhaust. I know the 05+s are way throatier than the 03s.

If anything exhausts should get louder as they break in, also where does it say that stock exhaust is a fuji on 05+? Thats the first I am hearing that. Which 8Hp increase are you talking about?

The 05+ sedans have 50% smaller resonators on the midpipe. Find the midpipe off of an 05+ sedan and you'll get the same sound.

Even better, use the mid pipe from a coupe, any year, and you'll get better results.

That's the most interesting BS I have ever seen on this board..

Edit: Not everyone likes the coupe middy because of the droning at 1.5k to 2k rpm; that's why some people is looking for the 05+ sedan middy in lieu of the 03-04 sedan middy

I had the coupe midpipe and I didn't like the drone and very mild vibration it caused. I chalk up the cause of the vibration to the lack of a second midpipe hanger and the resonnace caused by using the coupe midpipe in unison with a sedan muffler.

I'd recommend getting the 05+ midpipe if you can find it because it appears to work better with the sedan layout.
