Exhaust worth the money?
So i was thinking after I get my s. techs installed (on the way), and then get a 5/16 spacer, the next step would be an exhaust... but now im not sure. For 1k +/- for an exhaust, I could do much more for the money i.e technosquare ecu, and still have around $500 left over.... maybe pulley? what would you guys suggest doing next after plenum? I really dont have any engine mods yet, just ztube and popcharger and soon plenum. Thanks for the help.

OK -
If your going to increase air volume in - you better increase its ability to get it out as well = exhaust.
Most exhaust systems will produce 12WHP and below - actually most are 8WHP and below. Resonated testpipes will give you the same basic result at much less money overall - but combine the 2 and the car really comes alive!
We sell a great system, but I'm not marketing that now...just want to give some advice here, though I guess I just did that to a degree.
Pulleys are great - they help get you out of the bottom end faster and get you about the same result in HP as an exhaust system as well - through the entire band.
What you have to do is plan your mods as a whole, and then do them. Certain mods will cancel out portions of others and at the same time enhance and build on yet others as well. So you don't want waste your money adding this and that, to only kill this in the process.

I think you would want to get an exhaust with all the mods you want to do. Spending $1k is not that bad for an exhaust for our g's. IMO

someone else said this on another thread and it makes a lot of sense - tuning these cars is a matter of finding the right combination of mods. if you do too many breathing mods it leans out the car and causes the computer to pull timing. I think that you are better off going with cats (or test pipes if you wanna live dangerously) and headers. besides, it seems like the most beneficial part of the exhaust is the y-pipe b/c the stock y pipe looks like a freaken T rather than a Y. I think that replacing it with a JIC y-pipe will do 90% of what an exhaust does at a much lower cost.
Anytime you increase air intake, you lean the car out, to a degree. The car will adjust to most situations, but the car is lean to begin with by design.
When you add headers, cats/testpipes and exhaust - it leans out further, and stays that way.
That's when the tune and A/F and timing adjustments MUST take place. If you don't do them - you'll only get about 70% of the benefit of your mods.
