Can u modify a 350z airbox to fit our g's?

I know there is a difference b/w the z and g intake boxes, but was wodering if it was possible to modify an aftermarket airbox made for the z to fit our g's. For example, what about this arc aluminum airbox?http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/me...ode=ARC-INTAKE

Why don't you just get the stillen air box? Or something else made for the g? It can't be all that different.

only cuz arc released this aluminum intake pipe http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/19656 that would go along w/ the airbox and that would look sweet and it looks like it would do a much better job of keeping warm engine air out of the box and cool more than the stillen hfab and z tube and probably would get ok gains.

Hardly. Aluminum isn't thermally stable. It absorbs and transfers a ton of heat. That ARC intake would dramatically increase intake temperatures.

Like I've said a million times before, most of these aftermarket companies are here to make a quick buck and don't understand much when it comes to designing quality parts. They're quick to take advantage of people's ignorance when it comes to cars.

I have to agree that Aluminium is not a good choice for thermal insulation, unless if they have a layer of air / vacuum in between like the design of Weapon R intake (correct me if I name it wrongly)

In theory, could you buy some heat wrap and wrap the z-tube so you keep out the engines heat. I guess it would work in reverse for headers. Heat wrap for headers keeps the heat in the headers and doesnt allow it to heat up the engine bay. Would it work the same in reverse, keeping the hot air from being absorbed by the intake tube or would the wrap obsorbe the heat anyway?

Heat wrap is a waste of time unless you're concerned with keeping the air intake temperatures down for a run at the strip, and it would only work then if the whole engine bay was cold. The heat wrap will become heat soaked too as time passes. Don't waste your time...

that link offers something that will do the job.

outside of actual thermal coating as some intake companies use, or you can get a coating from jet-hot as well....

when you run aluminum or any metal tubed intake tubing thats not treated, unless you have a way for air to circulate up under the hood, which most cars already occurs to a certain degree, the looks add prestige,but performance reality will decrease a bit.

its all about gives and takes.
