It would be hard to overemphasize the impact upon engine response with such a simple change of installing the Z350 air intake on the G35c. Took just $20 and 20 minutes to install. This clearly has been the biggest bang for the buck. Wow --- what a difference. No wonder my MPG is only 14.23. Traffic permitting, every freeway entry is at WOT.

I dont have any mods and my mpg is 13 or so TOPS

I don't get it. I only see $250 aftermarket CAI's. Where did you get one for $20? Are we talking about the same thing?

BTW, I thought my15 mpg was an anomaly, I guess not. I read in another post on freshalloy.com's forum that the mileage improves once the break in is over...then again at
5000 miles. That would sure be nice. (currently at 1268 miles).

I still don't believe that the 350Z intake tube adds any horsepower. I think it just adds sound because of the deleted little resonator from the g35 tube. Nobody has any solid dyno numbers on the 350Z tube.

by removing the resonator you will get more airflow...its that simple, you will get HP gains. Its very easy to prove, and you dont need a dyno to prove it.
The resonator is somewhat small compared to other car's resonators, so expect gains between 2 and 5 horsepower throughout the rev range.

My timing could not have been better. I just went to a local Nissan dealer and asked if any of their Z350 customers had recently installed a CAI, and had the "old" pipe available. He said let me check, came back, and said they found it in the trash. I offered them $20, and he said sold. Timing is everything. :-)

Yes, that is on a coupe. Grille came from Tokyo, Teiwa Company. IMHO they are a bitch to deal with. Delivery was five weeks from order date, and all install instructions are in Japanese.

No you are not talking about the same thing. A Cold Air Return is entirely something different. This is just taking the air intake from a Nissan 350Z engine, and placing in the G35c. It DOES make a big difference.

Dally --- I can't believe that you don't have any mods. You ask more about other's mods than anyone on this forum. You need to buy some stuff and try it. :-)

Somebody (don't remember who though) posted dyno slips that were back-to-back one with stock tube and one with the 350Z tube.

He had a 2 rwhp gain with the Z tube, which is about the expected gain.

On the other hand, gaining 2 rwhp from just that mod alone isn't exactly going to change much in the performace of the car. And it definitely won't FEEL faster.......

Anyone that can feel a 2 hp gain on a 280 hp car could probably also feel a dime if they ran over it in the middle of the road.....

I agree with you completely about the sound thing-- just the sound alone with give the impression of more power/speed. Even if the extra power is not there.
