Installed Z-Tube and K&N... FINALLY!!
I finally installed my Z-Tube and K&N after almost a year of purchasing them. I must say that the butt-dyno was rather pleased. I had been complaining to the dealer about a 'loss of power', and they had said my car was fine, and that it was up to specs. After installing my Z-Tube and K&N, i found my OEM air filter was FILTHY! That explains the loss of power over the 1 year I have owned my car. I work in Downtown Miami, and as some of you may know, it is construction central over there and the air is thick with dust. My air filter had more black on the filtration element than the reddish color it is. Post-installation, was a different story, however. After I installed it, I took my G for a spin. The slightly sharper throttle response was definitely noticeable, and the sound was AMAZING! The car felt alive again, although not much more than when I first purchased it. My only question is: is the barely (and I mean barely) audible hissing noise normal at WOT? I know it is common no CAI, but I don't know if it is on a Z-Tube. Thanks!
Congrats on the new setup...I have the same, and I do suggest you clean the Maf Sensor...it evens out the idle and increases throttle response a little more(IMO). Cleaning it is very easy....you first buy CRC MAF cleaner from your local auto parts store...if thats not availiable then you can get some electronic parts cleaner. Then unplug the sensor's connector and use a phillips screwdriver to remove the 2 screws. Becareful removing the sensor...because if you drop it..you risk breaking the delicate elements inside. Spray it down liberally and when dry, put it back in.
thanks guys will do that! i also had a hard time trying to reste the ecu... i must have tried at least 7 times and was unsuccessful... i also was in 90+ degree weather and sweating like a effin pig, and i was getting fed up so i decided to give up.
