Re: SEDAN: Headers?

I have Nismo headers sitting in my garage. As soon as I finish the limited slip install (a story in itself) the headers go on next. If their are any issues I'll report them, but I highly doubt their will be any.

Re: SEDAN: Headers?

Are the Nismos "same length"?

I read somewhere that the bottom of the engine compartment / internal organs are plumbed differently, so as to require a different header assy for the sedan?

Other than that, GSedan35, where'd you get your Nismos and for how much?

Re: SEDAN: Headers?

Nothing a good muffler shop cant rig up. All it is is tubing, bend it weld it, voila make up for the sedans extra length and "maybe" extra plumbing. The underside of the coupe and sedan look alot alike, and the headers fit the coupe

Re: SEDAN: Headers?

SoCalTed, I got the Nismo headers off of EVO350, since they converted their race cars to the Xerd (or whatever their called) headers, the Nismo ones they had been using became surplus. I bought the last one they had. Performance Nissan sell's them brand new for $1117.

Re: SEDAN: Headers?

Hey Ted

How are you?

I am going with Crawford's myself, will be getting the 2nd set they make (1st one is going to Yuichi). These make 16hp, while the real life gain ont he nismo ones is 9 hp (dynoed ojn Yuichi's friend's car)Look at the design of the crawford's. They are both equal length, but the crawford' are longer then nismo's, on account of the "spaghetti" type design. Look at his website. And the price is about the same,w ith no sales tax for us. I will be the first sedan test-fitting those in!

Good lukc ont he meet, sorry that I can't make it this time.

Re: SEDAN: Headers?

Yeah know, I usually like to post telling the whole story. I should have mentioned that the crawfords are around the same price if you go with steel (ceramic coated?) vs the crawford stainless. If I recall the crawfords in stainless steel will sell for $1500. The crawford is a even better design, IMO. But for the price I got on my used Nismos for. I could not justify the crawfords, in spite of how I think they are better.

That's right, they are the same price, forgot to mention that! Can't wait for my set.

Re: SEDAN: Headers?

$1500 for a set of headers! I know there stainless steel and ceramic coated, but that's pricey. When you think about it you can get a set of long tube headers for a small block V8 for a couple of hundred bucks. Just thinking out loud don't mind me.

Re: SEDAN: Headers?

No difference stock to stock. The question is, is their anything else surrounding or nearer to the header that might prevent the aftermarket header from squeezing into place. Since a header is something that gets awfull hot, I doubt that might be the case. But theirs still that .1% of doubt. My car is still stuck in the shop for the LSD conversion, til it gets out and I'm able to make a appointment to have a shop do the header install I won't have a factual answer til then. I'd use the shop thats doing the LSD conversion to install the headers, but they quoted me $540. I know of another shop that did a Z for $340, thats where I want to go.
