HELP!!! MREV in the OC, CA install GONE BAD!!!

So i was installing the MREV today. . . borrowered a FT/LB torque wrench and converted the measurements to IN/LB to secure the MREV onto the block. . . and now im SCREWED! I broke the bolts that attached the MREV to the block (i thought that the snapping was the clicking for the torque wrench). Yes im an idiot. . . dont flame me too hard! Any help local to huntington beach would be appreciated! What should i DOOOO!!??!?!?!?

Carefully attach vise grips to the remaining studs and back those studs out. Take care not to mare the lower intake manifold.

And next time use an inch/lb torque wrench. Ft/lb torque wrenches aren't made for converting down to inch/lbs. The bolts only need about 10 ft/lbs. That's hardly anything.

Wow that sucks. I'm in Westminster if you need a ride to get anything.

Like DaveB says, visegrips to get them out. Do yourself a big favor and tape the holes so nothing falls down there.

tape the mating surface first then like Dave said, use vice grips. There more then enought to get a hold of.

Live and learn brother.............

I can't count the number of times I've screwed up.
It's all part of a learning process......I still have a
problem finding nuts/bolts that I drop in our engine
compartments. If they don't hit the floor I'll search
for half an hour and still not be able to find a damn
thing. Your lucky the bolts busted off above the
surface. Vicegrips will do the trick.....take your time!

9-10 ft-lbs that's what the service manual states.

once you get the broken bolts out, make sure you check the threads.... when that happened to me, the threads were messed up and I had to re-tap the thread...

good luck, let us know how it turns out.

mine looked fine too.... turned the bolts in and they turned in okay, but i wasn't able to torque them back to stock spec... then when i took the bolt out again, the threads in the hole came out too !

so make sure you could torque it back to stock spec

Um just run another bolt down those threads. If it screws in fine, then they are okay. If it's very difficult to move, then they are screwed. You should have at least one or two good non-overtorqued bolts still.

well, let me tell you what happened to me. i screwed the bolt down after i removed the broken piece and it went down fine. i thought i was in the clear. installed everything.... then remember that i put the metal gasket upside down so i had to remove it again.... this time when i removed it, that bolt came out real easy... hardly any effort needed... looking carefully at the bolt, the threads in the hole came out with the bolt!

the threads in the block are pretty soft..... i snapped my bolt and it screwed up my thread....

did you already install everything?
