Where are you coming up with that price? I couldn't find it. I thought someone had a prototype. I'm curious about the gains as well.

Re: K&N CAI Kits Now Available Sed/Cpe

I'm no expert but my guess would be: first, the length of intake piping, the short ram having shorter piping and probably positioned with the inlet in a warm air location. and secondly the CAI would have the longer piping with the inlet positioned a long way from warm air.

Re: K&N CAI Kits Now Available Sed/Cpe

Gsedanman,
That's Correct. Short ram is short piping drawing in air from inside the engine compartment (Hot Air) While Cold air Is Long Piping Drawing in air away from the Engine compartment usually from the compartment right in front of the Front wheel. There is much debate about piping material. some say that metal piping heats the air reguardless of where it draws in air. That's why one manufacture uses Thermo Plastic.(Ice Man) But I feel that the Air dosen't sit in the Intake piping long enough to Really heat up. After all it is flowing, Right? Short ram is less prone to hydroLock. Water being sucked up into the engine. not a Pretty sight, after all Water does Not Compress inside the Cylinder like air does......... However with Cold air there is a ByPass valve that dumps out the water before it can damage the engine, However you do lose some HP with this setup. After having both types of set ups on my last 4 cars. I am Quite Happy with My INJEN RD 1992......

Looks like the applications are for the 5AT only. The stalling problem with the 6MTs must still have not been solved. K&N seems to be acknowledging the problem by not having a model for them. We all know that phsically the two cars are identical in the intake area, so the CAI kits would fit.

Re: K&N CAI Kits Now Available Sed/Cpe

i just got off the phone with k & n and they said they sell it for 365 and to go to my local store and it should be 10 to 40% less then what they sell it at. so the price should range from 219 (highly doubtful) to 328.5. i am going to napa next week to see how much they are goin to sell them for and probably place my order if the price is right.
