similar in the sense that there is more induction noise, yes.

but they don't all sound the same.

the stillen airbox is covered and yet it's louder...

anyway, some intakes make a whistling sound...some people like this and others dont

it's all personal preference...

my question for you is why would someone want to spend 20 bucks on a cheap ebay muffler?

maybe you like the sound of your ebay muffler. and that's great. more power to yah. but for the rest of us, we like speding out money on what we think looks and sounds good. from test pipes to high flow cats. from ypipe backs to catbacks to rear sections only. from drop in filters to cai to short ram intakes. everyone has their own personal preference. obviously your tastes and our tastes are different, and that's perfectly fine. we need more diversity

What your paying for is the design. even though some may look the same they def produce different amounts of power as well as noises. You cant really even compare a INJEN CAI and an ebay CAI. I will bet you just about any amount of money that the injen will produce more than the EBAY. The material is better, the filter is better, the sound is better. You get what you pay for these days...

Hmm I though it was "you pay less if you shopp around"

but I guess quality could be worse of an ebay filter or not.

considering sedans dont have that signature coupe exhaust sound (which is freakin sweet! )

then yes, it sounds better than a stock sedan. but if i were you, this ebay muffler would only temporarily satisfy me until i got a full catback

here is the sound of my injen.

Cant tell me that it wasnt worth $270.00! The filter is the most important part BTW if you dont have a free flowing filter then it gets restrictive...

Well as you can see on the vids I have that body kit which kinda gets in way of geting dual exhaust. I woudl love dual exhaust but I dont hink I can without having to modify the body kit.

you can still have a true dual exhaust...

what youre thinking about (i think) is a true dual exhaust like hks for the coupe...

borla makes a true dual exhaust for the sedan...sounds sweet...ive heard this in person too

How does the borla sound compared to a stock coupe. Is it a lot louder? Does it get that nice coupe purrr? Im looking for a little louder than a coupe, but that makes power. I've considered the HKS rear section, but it seems like a lot to spend when I can spend a few hundred more and get a real full exhaust.

A filter on a stick is just a filter on a stick. Whether it's JWT, EBAY, Injen, or APC. It's been shown time and time again that intakes don't do anything for these cars other than make noise which gives the perception of speed. Many of the intakes also improve throttle response above 3000rpms, but the dynos don't show any conclusive gains whether isn't Injen, Stillen, JWT, or just a panel filter & Z tube.

+1^

...Which is why I went with the hi-flow drop-in and Z-tube. Sounds like a perfect match to the MREV+, headers & cats, but still has a very clean OEM sound. No whistle or other sound characteristics of an aftermarket intake, just a louder growl that gives great balance to the intake and exhaust noise.

I look completely OEM under the hood, which is fine with me. Others may want to spend the extra for the looks of a chrome/stainless pipe under the hood. To each his/her own.

Stillen has been proven time and time again to gain power. It is the only intake that has shown this gain over stock. It may not be much of a gain, but it is a gain. There maybe 1-2 dynos that show no gain with this intake, but it does require some 200-300 miles of really good driving for the ECU to adjust. But there are many more dynos on this site that have been posted in the past that show the gains. Or you can contact Tony at Motordyne for this info as well.

Is it worth $200 over the stock and K&N drop in + Z-Tube, probably not. but if you have a intake spacer from MD, you need a intake so you get the full benefits of the gains from the spacer. The stock intake doesn't allow this and will hamper this mod.
