Stillen HI-Flow Prob/Quest
Stillen HI-Flow Prob/Quest
I own a 2003.5 G35 coupe 6MT with approx 5000 miles on it. Recently (at approx 3700 miles) I installed a Stillen Hi-Flow airbox on the Coupe and love it. The intake sound is amazing. I have not converted to the Z-Tube as of yet because I like the way the current Engine cover fits. However I have encountered a problem!
My car does stall when shifting into neutral at speed as I have prev read about. Usually highway speed and is not much of a problem (since rarely do I depress the clutch) but it has happened coasting up to stoplights at approx 15 miles per hour. (Total times 6-8) I am aware many others have experienced this problem and was curious if adding the Z-tube would not only awaken the beast (so to speak) but does it fix this problem?? Is it the baffle in the G35C intake that causes the problem?? Any additional information would be helpful. Thanks and keep up the interesting posts!

Re: Stillen HI-Flow Prob/Quest

I have no issues too, from a tech I talked to it was the air flow sensor that would cause this problem.... so check your install.

"I have not converted to the Z-Tube as of yet because I like the way the current Engine cover fits." Your engine cover will fit fine, like normal with the Z tube.

The cover still fits normally, it just looks like a chunk was taken out of it. It'd be the same if you went with a CAI as well.

Re: Stillen HI-Flow Prob/Quest
Thanks for your responses. I have not performed the complex ECU reset. Just left the battery off overnight. Do you think resetting the mass air flow would help?? Why would the "zero" position change just with changing the airbox? I guess I just dont understand.
As for the appearance of the engine. I would be willing to change if the Z-tube fixed the stalling probs or gave a little more growel under the hood. Any Suggestions? And thanks for all of your posts.

Re: Stillen HI-Flow Prob/Quest
I must admit I am tempted to buy the Z tube now. If I add the Z-tube do I use the clamps from the current intake or buy the clamps from the 350 Z air duct?? How long did it take to install??
Thanks again for all the info!!!

Re: Stillen HI-Flow Prob/Quest
I used regular hose clamps on mine replacing the wire clamp. Install took about 10 minutes.
The mod will net a few hp and torques.
