K&N Filters

Re: K&N Filters
Hey Scoop, Hope you're surviving ok up there in Barrie.
The filter should be available through your local CTC. The K&N part # is 33-2031-2. They'll special order one for you if not in stock.
If they can't help you go to- wwwknfilters.com -for a supplier in your area..........Later

Re: K&N Filters
how long should it take to install the filter?
looks like you have to unscrew the bolt on the hose clip, the bolt that stablizes the box, and pretty much remove the entire box to be able to open it enough to install the filter. can't do it by simply unlatching the clips on the box itself.

Deadmanincbh: Do an all forums search for: K & N / 3 months date range
Happy reading
Also do a search for 'socalmmr' (2months)--- His results are definitive.

Re: K&N Filters
took me about 30 minutes to install the filter..
i couldn't fully remove the air box, and unhooking the clips didn't give me enough to remove the filter.. but i found if you remove the long extension to the air box left the the power duct, you could remove the filter from the side.. it's just too hard trying to pull it out from the top..
now lets see what kinds of improvements i see from installing it..

Re: K&N Filters
Took me about 30 minutes and I removed the entire airbox for ease of installing the new filter. Basically:
1. Pry up the two push fasteners on the airbox extension that goes across the radiator area and set the extension aside.
2. Remove the 10mm airbox attach bolt on the far right side.
3. Remove the (4) gold colored 10mm screws that attach the airbox to the intake hose.
4. Carefully lift the airbox out. It will take a little force due to the two grommets on the bottom of the airbox.
5. Once out, you can easily replace the air filter ensuring the correct fit.
6. Reverse the removal instructions. Of particular note, when you're reinstalling the airbox, there's an approx. 1 1/2" plastic tube that goes into the bottom of the airbox. Make sure (by looking down into the airbox) that it goes in before forcing the airbox into the grommets on the bottom of the airbox.
Hope this helps

Re: K&N Filters
Sorry about that! I've run K&N's in every automobile I've had since 1996. I won't say that you'll notice the claimed 5hp increase, but you may see some more mpg. I had a gas guzzling '96 4Runner and after I installed the K&N, I got an average of 2 more miles to the gallon. That may not sound like much, but it's like getting an extra gallon of mileage per fill up
