Re: Audio Sound Bites
definitely louder than stock....since our stock setups (intake & exhaust) were designed to minimize any and all growl for a more subdued luxury sedan experience.
Pfffft!!! bring on the growl!!!

Re: Audio Sound Bites
there is a no "drone", but there is a growl (as I like to refer to it) when you are throttle down. Coasting and idle, nothing ....very stealthy.
It is NOT unpleasant to the ears, but it is QUITE a difference. Starting up the car is a pure ecstacy. Passing on the freeway makes just about everyone do a double take.
Coming off the freeway, I was heading back under the overpass when i gunned it up a hill.... it made me look in the mirror for a big block, thinking that someone was playing catch up..... I had a stupid grin on my face the rest of the way home

gurgenpb,
How much do you think your other mods (ECU/Plenum) had to do with the performance of the Stillen exhaust? If the exhaust was added to a stock G35 or a G35 with a Stillen intake, do you believe the gains would still be as significant? Thanks for the info.
Take care,

can you compare your stillen to the 22" magnaflow. right now i get a pretty bad drone with light gas from 1500-2200rpm when the car is fully heated up. is this issue taken care of with the stillen exhaust or do you still get that drone. also would you say 0-2000rpm is louder with the sitllen or quieter then the magnaflow 22". thanks.

Ted
Did you get yours in yet?
I think Ted answered the questions right on the dot.
As far as my mods... Remember, I was talking about the performance of hte Stillen exhaust comapred to "right before the stillen exhaust". The ECU/plenum are still doing their job on their own. If anything, the increase by Stillen exhaust on the stock car will be greater than on a well-tuned car such as mine (as I MAY have improved on things independantly that the Stillen exhaust would have done). Whenver you have functionally overlapping componenents, one does the job for the other, thus the whole idea of diminishing returns as you keep adding mods to your car.

Re: The New SEDAN Stillen Dual Catback - INSTALLED!!!
I am not sure how to compare to the 22" resonator. The same type of really low-end bass-type drone that I was getting with the magnaflow is not there with the stillen. But I would rate the stillen louder at those same lower rpms, just slightly higher frequency - so less of a drone.
Maybe we can draw some opinions from the 4 people who have seen the exhaust in the l.a. are:
Eddie (G35Lin), Victor (G35Lakers), Clint (THX), and of course Ted.

hey gurg, sounds like i ll be probaly getting the stillen set instead of the injen to replace the stillen axle back muffler i bought last year. i was going by the photo that stillen gave us on their website that gave me the impression that the injen was a dual muffler system. that s#$$ks. oh well. good luck with the system

NJ,
Yeah, there are no injen sedan pictures out there. Injen has only released a "fiel" picture and for the reasons listed a few posts back in this thread, I would not get it. Also, it is a single, coffee can muffler, not twin tip one.
AS far as the drone, yes it is completely basent I would say, it is just louder throught, but pleasant IMO. EDIT: Not Annoying!
Enjoy guys, leaving for Vegas in 1 hour. So no posts till Monday night. I'll see how fast I can take this baby on the I-15.
