Installed JWT Pop Charger
Installed JWT Pop Charger
I had removed the JWT Pop Charger from my Maxima several months ago and ran across it in my garage a last week. I checked the bolt pattern to the G35's MAS and guess what... they're the same. So, needless to say, I decided to wrench on the car some tonight. I removed the factory airbox along with my K&N panel filter and installed the Pop Charger. I also did some modifications to the plastic cover behind the bumper cover. I bought a black PVC drain from Home Depot along with a 3" 90degree bend piece of black PVC and whipped out the dremel. I cut the center out of the drain to make it just an open cylinder with a lip on the outside. Then I cut a hole in the black plastic behind the driver's side grill insert on the coupe. I mounted the hole (no pun intended) and fit the 90deg bend on the back side via three rivets. I also added a piece of plastic to help deflect more air into the inlet. I would think that this would definitely improve the air temperature under my hood, especially in the vicinity of the air filter. I buttoned her up and took a spin. It didn't make a real noticable change on my butt dyno, but I did notice an audible change. The car definitely has more of a growl now which is especially noticable at lower rpm's under heavy loads. I don't hear any of the annoying sucking noise associated with cone type filters. It also has a more raw sound at high rpms, which I'll be used to in a couple of days. So, I guess I'd consider my time well spent. I'm looking forward to heading off to the drag strip again to quantify my results. I have attached some pics for those of you who are interested.

If you put your original horizontal air scoop back, the PopCharger
woulg get even more cold air.

Re: Installed JWT Pop Charger
I don't think the horizontal tube does anything. I believe that it's in a low pressure area that is not so much feeding the air box air, but more providing the airbox a cool location to suck from. Hence, I don't believe adding it back on will help me any at all. Plus IMO, it looks silly without the airbox attached. I did call Stillen to see if they would just sell the housing that comes with their intake, but they said no.
Also, I am still waiting for my local shop to install a cold air intake on a 350Z who doesn't want his stock tube. Then I can swipe one for free.

Re: Installed JWT Pop Charger
Does anyone have pics of the new heat box for the JWT pop charger, the one that looks like the Stillen Air Box?
