i just installed the Stillen z-tube and k/n drop in air filter and to me, it sounds exactly like the OEM intake system. i know it isn't suppose to sound like a pop charger but i can't tell any difference at all! has anyone had the same experience? chime in experts, thx.

its deff a subtle difference IMO..
Maybe you need a spacer with plenum
then you would be able to hear it

i don't think i've ever read anywhere that this is suppose to sound like the popcharger.

i have this setup and it was a subtle, yet noticeable (to me), difference. the sound is not night/day.

if you just want it to be louder, take your powerduct off.

If you want something louder, some of the aftermarket CAIs like Injen, Stillen, etc are much louder than stock.

Exactly. I installed the Z-Tube on my stock 06 6MT and didn't notice any difference. Interesting. The Z tube came off my 05X. And on that car, the Z tube made for a rather large increase in induction noise.

Back to the 06 6MT...
However, once I installed the Stillen Airbox (CAI) which removes the noise baffles in front of the Z Tube, there was a significant difference.
The Motordyne kit increased induction growl further.

The reason you didn't notice much noise difference is because of the design of the 05-06 Rev-Up intake manifold on the 6MT cars. It has shorter runners which influence the induction noise. The 05-06 autos have longer intake runners which makes for more induction noise.

Is the power duct the black piece at the front of the engine? and is it worth taking off?

If you want more noise, just drill some holes in your exhaust system. More noise?

I switched my stock for a 350Z tube when installing the plenum spacer and definately noticed a difference throughout the RPM range, but it is most noticeable at about 2k when barely on the gas as a low range rumble.

it's the piece that says powerduct

worth taking off? that's for you to decide. it literally takes a few seconds to pop it off and pop it back on.

Your current mods........

You haven't done anything to change the way it sounds or increased HP yet.
Get a Stillen CAI, MotorDyne 5/16" spacer and a cat-back system then you'll
really notice the diffrence.....all it costs is $.
