Thanks for the input. I guess I will just view it as normal and stop worrying about it. 5/16 spacer is on its way..so Ill see if it gets louder.
Thanks- Chris

What it is, the reason you hear it at slight to mid throttle is because its the air whistling off your throttle plate and the sound is producing out of the pipe. When the throttle is all the way open there is nothin for the air to fight with anymore so it has free passage to just enter the engine. Most intakes on larger engines will whistle due to the high volume of air. when my brother had a K&N on his 05 F150 that whistle was louder than my Injen's can ever be.

and to add to that, i heard a 350z with injen that sounded very similar.

I've had my Injen intake on my car for over 3 years and it has NEVER whistled. Even Injen said it was not normal.

you guys know that the whistling effect is that the path to the engine is not perfect therefore a whistling. Its not that every other intake is "not as good because it doesnt whistle like an injen". I have one and its not because theres more air coming in, its impedence.

this is pretty normal from my experience. I think it is the whistle air flow makes when the throttle is open just enough to make a whistle. On mine it's usually not as soon as I touch the gas, and not too much gas, but just let's say about 15% into the gas pedal. It does to in all gears, etc. The same thing happened on my Yukon Denali with a K&N intake. As far as I know it's pretty typical and makes sense for a whistle or whirl noise to occur at those velocities with the throttle flap (or whatever you want to call it) is open the right amount to make a whistle. If you are sensitive with your gas pedal and try to replicate it I guarantee you that you will... if you just mash your gas pedal the throttle won't be open long enough at that "whistle area" to be audible. I think the injen might just be really audible vs other intakes, but I believe the whistle comes from the throttle body or where ever that flap is that opens up to let air into the manifold. (I don't know the technical names for this thing.)

My car is doing the same thing. I have the K&N drop in and like the OP said, it's not at WOT, it's at very minimal throttle. Once I get about 1/3 or more on the gas then it goes away. I could take off from a start and give it less than 1/3 throttle and the sound will stay constant up until redline. It's annoying. I know what the whooosh from the intake is and THIS ISN'T IT! It's an actual whistling noise...not air going through a tube noise.

That's why it's the noise that I explained before. The throttle flap is open just at the right position to make a whistling noise while the intake manifold sucks in air. It's the same as a person whistling; if the opening is just the right size for air to make a noise while it passes over it, there is a whistling sound.

And it's normal.

To each his own. I personally like the mini-turbo whistle. Try doing some research on an intake that's more quiet. There are plenty of intakes out for our cars.

I think I'm speaking for the OP too here but this is not a "mini-turbo" whistle. It sounds like spinning metal on metal high pitched shrieking whistle.

Now the rush of air I heard after my drop in and z-tube, that is a cool sound. I can't wait to hear it after I install my MREV2 and spacer.
