at about 3300 rpm? I just got Strup headers and FI Metalic cats with a stock exhaust and I'm getting this duck squeezing exhaust note between 3300 - 4000 rpm.

Now I'm trying to look for an inexpensive exhaust solution (other than going back to stock) from the ypipe --> back

I'm hearing a lot about magnaflow resonated xpipes, but I'm not sure that would integrate with the stock system

 

I've never strangled a duck but i've always defined rasp to sound like a bunch of rattling BB's in a tin can. Very metallic and tin sounding.

I'd imagine your duck sound to be something metal rubbing against metal. Could something be rubbing underneath?

Rasp would sound like... damn, it's serious so hard to explain, yet easy to hear.

The only good reference I can make is; Just imagine squeasing your throat, and trying to scream. Just add a metallic tone to it, and you have rasp.

if you have ever heard an m3 give the car a little bit of gas that is what rasp is...search youtube for m3 exhaust, im sure you will find something.

I had rasp before (not this car) and I wanted to strangle a duck too! Probably too much flow for the stock system. You'll get a tinny sound from the headers but rasp sucks!!!! I would look at finishing the rest of the exhaust off. Why not give FI the rest of the way back??? "X" pipes give you that gurggling sound. Sorry not a fan of, even on V8's. Good luck with killing the "Duck".

try wrapping the cats (not the actual cat portion) back and make sure you cover the flex joints. (with header wrap--found in almost all automotive parts stores) there have been numerous threads bout this same problem and this seems to help. does the sound kinda go away after the car warms up? i just got kinetix cats installed and i have intake, spacer, topspeed headers, and now the cats on the stock cat back and i get the same sound but it does go away after the car warms up. search "rattle, exhaust" or "HFC, rattle" something along the lines of that.

Thanks. Yes, if does get better once the car warms up. So i should buy some exhaust wrap and wrap from the cats back, to as far as I can go. and also use exhaust wrap on the flex section.
