Retaining stock coupe 'warble'

I've been trying to figure out how to make the exhaust a bit louder while still retaining that unique 'warble' (the sound it makes at lower RPM) that the variable flow OEM muffler provides for.

Did long-tube headers, high flow cats, aggressive cams, each of which made it sound more badass and louder, while retaining the stock tone.

I've tried a few things and exhaust setups, but always ended up loosing that stock 'warble' sound at the bottom end (ried various custom setups, magnaflow, HKS, etc..., nothing kept the stock note).

Any ideas on what to do now to make it louder/deeper while retaining the 'warble'?

I heard the '05 Rev-up with Crawford plenum, Crawford headers, Crawford high-flow cats, some upgraded y-pipe, and stock mid-pipe and muffler....it sounded awesome! Stock "warble" at its best!

It's hard not to retain the stock sound with the stock muffler and mid pipe. Putting all those flow enhancing parts on, just to keep a single exhaust system, is somewhat counter productive though. You'll sacrafice top end power for bottom end gains overall.

You can get the best gains in both worlds by putting a good 2 1/2" mandrel bent system in place to compliment.

Just add a set of test pipes to your stock exhaust. Thats going to be your best bet IMO.

Resonated test pipes or HFC's...teh testpipes will give you all the smell from teh unburnt gases, some 300Cell HFC's will stop that and only affect performnace by about 1-3 HP at most in comparison. Also, it wont rasp with the HFC's, but might with the resonated testpipes.

Your system does sound good, but unfortunately it doesn't have the tone I'm hoping for ... something tells me the only way to retain the note I want is with the stock midpipe/muffler.

Dude, If you want stock "warble" you will have to roll with a stock exhaust, or at least a single path exhaust system like the nismo, fuji, etc. 2.5 to 3 inch single path exhaust. Anything else will sound different, especially a true-dual exhaust. Did you not think of this or listen to sound clips before buying what you don't like?

do this: intake, spacer, headers, hfc/or your stock cats, and retain the stock cat back. you will love the sound. deeper and meaner and it still has that unique "warble"

I was in the same boat. I love the coupes stock exhaust note but wanted it louder. I had this ( I have the one w/o the resonator) sitting around and was already using a Fuji Y. I slapped on the exhaust for giggles and was pleasantly surprised! The sound itsself is really close to stock but its louder w/o being anywhere near obnoxious and no drone... I am very very pleased with the outcome. No i dont have any sound clips.. I am using stock exhaust manifolds and cats.

Just keep the stock mufflers etc and jump the size of the piping going in and out. It should sound the same, yet flow a good bit better. I'm in the same boat, I didn't buy the car for drag racing, but I'd like more power, but not if its coming at the cost of the sexy exhuast tone...
