My custom dual 3" sedan exhaust

hey Guys

I haven't posted in a LOOOONG while... but wanted to share some of the pics from my car that i picked up today.

You can see my mods in my sig...the dual/modified Stillen exhaust was no longer cutting it. Needed dual 3". Long story short...here it is

The work was done by Anthony's Muffler Shop in Whittier, CA. They are well known in the S2k community I gather. the quality of the work is very high, and overall i am very impressed.

I used Ansa Silverline cans. the look is definitely funky... The offset ones are on back order, so we had to use center/center inlet/outlet mufflers, hence so much of the muffler's body shows. I know it's not a good look , but in this case, I had no other choice. I need dual 3" (totally straight through).

At idle, the car is about what it was before, not any louder. There is some droning at 2500 rpm, but very very slight. At WOT, the car does not sound as deep as I would want... I think I mght be trying the magnaflow mufflers in place of the silverlines, to get a better tone. All of these were to be expected, and I was willing to make the compromise for more power and lower EGTs.

i ahven't found suitable tips yet, so those pipes are there on a temporary basis.

The power gain IS ABSOLUTELY noticeable.. Dual 2.5" for high power/built motor is just not enough IMHO (over 450whp it starts to choke a bit).

Let me know what you think.

Looks good for now until you get some nice tips on there. What are you going to do about the cut in the rear bumper? looks like they took a knife and just cut it and left the stray/rough edges

oh yeah...i forgot to mention that... the cutout i told them to do. I have the aero kit rear bumper skirt going onto the rear bumper, which goes over that cut out and covers it.. so that's not an issue and will be dealt with. So will the tips, once i find some that i like. This is still kind of a work in progress.

I like it and I've been a huge fan of your car. The design is what I've had in my mind for nearly 2 years now. For your TTs, the 3" design is great. For an NA application, I visualize 2" pipes with an H, two large resonators, and then the siamized mufflers. IMO, 2" is plenty of volume for an NA VQ35. The smaller pipes would keep exhaust velocity high and the H pipe would equalize the pulse.

yep i will be. It doesn't sound too hot at WOT...but it's great and quiet at low loads.

Thanks for thekind words, appreciated.
Those dimensions sound right. I forgot to tell him about hte H...i want it for sound purposes.

An update: i had Jeff (1BAD6MT) follow me today, and he said it sounds pretty nice...sounds "powerful". I am gonna have him drive my car and me follow to hear it for myself. But, I am beginnign to like the sound. It sounds different it seems from the outside.

Wow, nice stuff. Like others have said I 've watched your progress for some time. Cars like yours and the potential for this platform was one of the reasons I wanted one.
I think the other guy was zimbo who pushed the envelope for sedans a few years back. Good luck and keep it going
