Wanted yous guys' opinion on what the best midpipe solution for a bone stock exhaust on a 2004 Sedan. I'm most likely getting the HKS section in a few months, but if I find the tone off midpipe alone satisfactory I might hold off. from what i've read both coupe and 05/06 sedan midpipes could be direct swapped, which would be probably something I am interested in, and 350z pipe could work with an extender? Thanks for any input, tis greatly appreciated!

 

As you have mentioned, you should be good to go with a middy from a coupe. That's what my brother did with his '04 Sedan and it sounds pretty good.

 

I've had both and the 05+ sedan midpipe sounds a lot better.

 

Any idea where I could pick one of those up? And as far as pricing...it seems like the coupe middys are being given away.

 

what's the sound difference between the two? is one louder or deeper than the other?

 

I bought mine for about $90 off a guy from this site.

 

The sedan midpipe is deeper and has a more linear sound. The coupe midpipe has quite a bit of drone while the sedan midpipe has very minimal drone.

Another advantage of the sedan midpipe is that it fits like stock. The coupe midpipe requires modification of the heat shields.

 

what about a 350z midpipe with extension? anyone know what that sounds like or how it fits?

ease of fitment is def. a plus... if that matters to you, go with the newer sedan midpipe, unless you are positively sure that coupe will fit just as perfect. i'd still go with sedan midpipe IMO

 

I have a coupe middy...does it matter if I decide to get an HKS sport exhaust? Is the 05 resonator just as big as the 04s cuz the 04 is huge. If it is then there is a weight difference between the coupe and the sedans mid section. Coupe's mid section is very light compared to the 04s. So if your concerned about shaving some weight for performance would a coupe middy be better?
