So, about my Stillen Hi-flow Intake
I installed the Stillen hi-flow intake with a carbon fiber z tube, and I love it.
I was wondering however about the bolt that inserts on the bottom of the intake. I have read here about it, but there was no mention in my Stillen instruction sheet, nor was there a hole on the bottom of the intake. Is this normal? Do I have an updated or outdated version? I actually ended up making a mount out of screw-able zip ties, so its all golden, but I'm just curios.
Here are some pics of my intake...

Interesting that they stopped using it... it is truly a PITA! I don’t know of anyone that bolts it down. Mine was bolted on first install but never subsequently... it's really not needed (especially for the effort it takes to get at it).

I didn't even bother bolting it down. Way too much of a hassle.
digitalhifinet, I wouldn't worry about it.

I agree, it was a complete PITA. I cut up my forearms, wrists reaching in there trying to screw in that bolt. Others have said you can use extentions for your socket wrench (although I can't believe how the angle of the socket extention actualy cleared the filter head).
This is what I did... I went to Lowes and bought a #8 double open ended bolt (its a machine bolt that doesn't have the socket head, imagine taking a mchine bolt and chopping off the head). I then measured roughly how long it would be to screw it into the car chasis, and fit the Stillen airbox over the screw. These screws come in 6" lengths so I think I cut of an inch or so off. Then, I tightened the screw into the car chasis using vice grip, fit the airbox over the screw, then used a nut to tighten down the box. Much easier IMO. Total cost, 35 cents.....lacerations and cuts to the wrist and forearms avoided...priceless.
Although the description of this process seems complicated, it really only took 5 minutes to do.. lol.
