I think the tips from the stock FI exhaust are great the way they are. I wouldn't mind it being a few mm larger, but nothing as large as the HKS tips. The HKS tips look hot on the HKS exhaust... slapping them on the FI exhaust looks strange.

I just love the thick look of the FI tips. Makes it look so much cleaner.

Just my personal opinion, from another happy Fast Intentions owner

+1 yeah I like it the way it is, I'm gonna have my FI resontated testpipes installed on friday, so I'll take a sound clip of that, but I might have the kinetix V+ plenum installed too, so the sound clip will be with the testpies and the plenum.. but I'll upload both videos to hear the difference with stock cats and testpipes w/ plenum..

Post some pics up, bro. I'd be curious to see how they look with the stock rear bumper.

I didn't like them off the car and I didn't like them on Eric's car...but let's see them on a stock rear. I wonder how much they stick out (or don't for that matter). Are they pretty much flush with the bumper or what?

Pics.

We'll see, exhaust is still being built. Should be picking it up next week, hopefully. I'll try to get a few pics in when the install was done.

Honestly, I love the look of the HKS, but vastly prefer the sound of the FI (esp. after riding in Eric's car!!!). They're both nice, but incredibly different. The FI exhaust w/ Ti Tips was a compromise that worked for me.

You didn't hear HKS with FI HFCs from in the cabin.

It's a completely different experience than just HKS alone.

But the FI exhaust with their cats also sounds GREAT.

Yea, I'm debating the HFCs...only thing I'm worried about is exceeding the legal dB limit with intake, MREV, and spacer up front....

And no I didn't hear, because I never got a ride in your car. Also like to support the local guys.

the intake, mrev, and spacer aren't going to do much to the sound of your exhaust, if anything at all. the cats are going to have a much larger impact on your exhaust dB level.

as long as you don't gun it around a cop, then you won't have much trouble...my setup can be very LOUD...or fairly quiet. just depends how i drive it.

Another note to that - if your FI'd - you'd want the metallic cats - they last longer and are more conducive to that need. They will also be louder as well than the Ceramic cats. If all you are doing, and going to do, are the standard NA bolt-ons...then go with the ceramics. If you are concerned at all about your mods and tune, etc...get the metallics.

Performance-wise, the metallics have about ~1-3 HP advantage over the ceramic ones - and testpipes have ~1-3HP advantage over the metallic cats.

Let me know if you have nay other questions.

for $40 more (or whatever the difference is), i'd recommend just stepping up to the metallic cats - f/i or not.

just my two cents.

No doubt - and my exact recommendation as well. If there is a noise level concern - like Calvin said, just look around more often and don't gun it around cops...

I try not to gun it around cops, but I'm just wondering if it's even close to the legal limit (or over) with metallic cats? I'd be happy to get the metallics if I know they'll pass with the state ref...

I'm not looking to chase anyone down if my exhaust is too loud, but so far I can't get an answer out of anyone..... FI exhaust, Metallic HFCs, Stillen Airbox, MREV2, 5/16 spacer (I know they don't make it much louder, just deeper).....am I pushing it with the legal sound limit on the streets?

Oh, and chances are I won't be going FI, but I'd still prolly pop for the metallics, especially if they're more durable.
