new kinetix plenum on my350z.com

The plenum looks nice, is plastic, so it will cost much less than crawford's. It will be privately dyno'ed on Monday. Keep an eye out!

Looks good bro. Can't wait to see the dynos, flow characteristics, and install issues (if any) and compare to Crawford's.
That price of $395. I assume would be for swapping your OEM plenum for their new one, or add $200 to keep both????

Re: new kinetix plenum on my350z.com

Fully agree with all the power and flow issues you bring up gsedanman.

The Lsdunique plenuem does not require you to send back you oem pleneum to avoid a $200 core charge.

Crawford does still require you to send back the oem part or to pay a $200 core charge. Not a big deal for me as I don't need the oem part anyhow and Crawford pays the shipping fee to send the oem part back, using the same shipping box the new pleneum come in. I am thinking about upgrading to the V.5 pleneum from the original I have now.

Jim , the V-5 is Crawford's latest plenum, and metal, right? Any numbers on it yet?

Re: new kinetix plenum on my350z.com

Here's a dyno of the plenum. Lower line is stock, middle is the plenum, highest is the plenum plus more mods. The plastic plenum should not flow as well, because it has a depresson in the front for the 350Z STB. The Dynos on the Kinetix will be interesting, if they can ever get them done.

Yes the latest version, all metal too. Lou of course just posted the numbers above for it.

you guys know it's plastic to absorb less heat soak right? Not to keep costs down...

Re: new kinetix plenum on my350z.com

The Kinetix Plenum is designed for the 350Z, not the G35. The front of the plenum is shorter than the Crawford to allow for the 350Z strut bar brace. The Crawford is higher in the front to provide better air flow. As has been posted on MY350Z.com, G owners are probably better served with the Crawford.

In terms of heat soak, it is a small piece in relation to the whole engine and I would like to see several charts regarding heat cycles of the plastic. Yes other cars run plastic intakes, (Camaro, Corvette, etc.) but they are complete intakes not just the upper half of the plenum. Removing the engine cover will probably provide just as much of an improvement in heat soak as a plastic upper plenum.

Re: new kinetix plenum on my350z.com

the first part may be true hotg but the latter may not.
Since the interior flow design is what counts more... the dyno's will be quite interesting to see.

The Kinetix plenum is completely smooth and 1 piece design, exterior AND interior, meaning the air will flow smoothly on the inside, whereas the crawford is 2 pieces welded together.

I am not saying anything bad about the crawford plenum, just now there is definitely some competition, hopefully to drive prices DOWN ... plus you get to keep your stock plenum! (saves $200)

And there is nothign wrong with having a plastic plenum, as I recall, many Fords and even the vette has a plastic plenum (mainly for less heat-soak..meaning the plastic plenum will not get as hot as a metal one would, meaning the air inside will be cooler ... thats a good thing)

Re: new kinetix plenum on my350z.com

I have an FX35 and I am looking at getting the Crawford or Kinetix also. Looking at the pic though, the rear bolt holes for the Engine cover are missing on the Kinetix plenum. Does this mean, we lose the engine cover on the FX35 and G35?
