HKS Ebay Knockoffs - Sound and looks amazing
Hello all,
New member to the site and got my 03 G35 Coupe a few days ago, like everyone else I'm looking for the basic engine, wheels and exhaust mods. Seems like most people agree HKS is probably one of the best exhaust setups you can buy...now I found this seller selling something that looks very similar and he has video clips of the sound afterwards and it sounds amazing. The looks is also amazing and on youtube they have a video clip as well. A full dual setup for $500 bucks, have anyone tried this setup yet?

What do you guys think?

Theres also a hks knock off offered by one of our sponsors its call the X02 seems like people have been jumping on this if they can't shell out 1200 for a authentic hks.
There are some issues not too sure if they have delt with already but i believe they were the exhaust doesn't fit as well as it should. Also, complaints that the exhaust tips weren't the greatest quality.

If you can't afford the "REAL" thing........
Our OEM exhaust system sounds good so if you can't afford the real thing why
bother. I guarantee the knockoffs won't have the same quality in pipe or welds
not to mention the mufflers that take weeks of testing to get right! Any mod
you make should be an upgrade, don't put trash on a quality ride!

Gary,
I agree, I do think the OEM setup sounds good but i wouldn't mind it being a little bit more throatier and maybe a bit louder. I looked at Magnaflow too, looks like a muffler with some pipes with the resonator removed, how does it sound?
I used to have FX45 where the resonator was removed and it made the exhaust sound like a rice burner, so much rasp....

yeah i would never get anything for my car from eBay. I don't care how cheap or how good it looks! Parts on ebay are meant for cars like Civics! not luxury sports cars! I wouldn't take my chances if i were you.

Not this again.
"Sounds and looks amazing," eh? Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
thenexlevel,
There are several threads regarding this exhaust - all of which people, including myself, have already offered their opinions in.
There are sound clips and several opinions in the threads below:

Xo2, IMO, did a poor job of replicating the HKS exhaust. Coming from a person who has seen/heard this exhaust in person...I think the tips of the Xo2 exhaust are a POS. They aren't even comparable to the tips on the HKS system. Not to mention they don't extend far enough. The sound is deeper than HKS, as well. HKS is known for it higher pitched ("almost exotic") note, but this Xo2 is nothing like that. Those extension pipes you mentioned...yeh, some people had fitment issues with those.
I doubt there have been any people that have sold their HKS for the Xo2 exhaust...but I already know of some people that have wasted their money on the Xo2 exhaust only to find that it is not what they were looking for (HKS)...so they went ahead and bought the real thing. Imagine that.
Hey, I'm all for replicas. That is if the replica meets or exceeds the quality of its authentic counterpart. This, IMO, does not.
If what you want is HKS, then get HKS...as this exhaust is nothing like the real thing. If what you want is a deeper exhaust, a poor attempt at burnt tips, and an affordable true dual exhaust, then by all means...get the Xo2. It's for you. In the end, it's all subjective and it's what you want.
