our "power duct"

Hey guys, just wanted to see if anyone else realized that if they simply remove our "power duct" attachment infront of our intake, it sounds ALOT meaner... just an FYI for all you out there who wanna know what an intake would sound like... ON THE CHEAP!

it might sound meaner but i think it probably lose power by sucking in the warmer underhood air. the function of the power duct is to suck cooler air from the grille area

It diverts air directly to the filter and intake, and is constructed really well for maximum power. Why would you remove it? Seems rather silly.

what makes it an oxymoron? why is it contradictory if it has been engineered for efficiency and cold-air charge? it seems reasonable to call it a "power duct" in this case.

LOL, it took you this long to figure that out paul? why do you think my car is so aggressive sounding with only a z tube and drop in? only draw back is that you lose so toe in gas pedal feel especially in the auto.

I don't get it, make more noise but losing power by removing the power duct which was channeling cold air under OE design.

My last trip to the drag strip, there we a civic made the loudest noise than any car around including several 9" cars. When he finally get going, he was so slow that everybody started laughing, he ended up in the 16" range, he was a laughing stock for that day.

You don't lose power by removing the power duct! I tested it back to back at the track. I ditched mine a long time ago!

At the strip, probably not. On an 80+ degree day vs stock, probably a little bit of power is lost, but hardly anything to really worry about. I have run without the duct, then with a modified duct, and then back to OEM. One thing is for sure, you do loose a bit of low rpm throttle response with the duct off.
