Exhaust

What exhaust should I do? I am hearing the Invidia sounds great, but I just want your opinion on what I should do.

There has to be a hundred threads regarding what exhaust to get. It's all subjective, and it depends on what you're looking for. Try to be more specific with your questions, rather than just asking us how to spend your money and on what. What sounds good to us doesn't necessarily mean it'll sound good to you.

Popular exhausts are Fast Intentions, HKS, Stillen, Injen, Greddy, etc. Search here and YouTube for sound clips. If possible, hear it in person first.

I love my Stillen Exhaust. As time has gone by the sound improves too. Def matures nicely with age. The only other one I would consider is the HKS.

Please research a bit more and hear them in person.

I went with Fast Intentions and couldn't be happier. But there are many other great exhausts out there. Some will suit you better than others.

Today, I just installed F.I Resonated Test Pipes to my F.I Exhaust, and...wow. Let me tell you, this thing is L O U D. I'm going to have to learn to control the decibels to avoid any issues with the cops.

Goodluck!

do you have any rasp past 3k paired with your fi exhaust? I had the fi resonated tps with my hks exhaust and it would rasp past 3k at wot...but

under that it sounded so fing good...one of the reasons i sold them was because i was always worried about getting pulled over (loudness, smell).

Well, paired with the F.I exhaust, it is virtually rasp-free. I think its the fact that the HKS is already pretty high pitched compared to other exhausts. Therefore, adding resonated test pipes, even if they are as quality pieces as the F.I Resonated test pipes, it will probably still rasp.

I think im probably pushing the limits a little for a daily driven G35. It's definately much louder than I expected it to be, and the smell is pretty obvious. But man, does it sound breath-taking

As far as rasp with my combination, for what ever reason, I would sometimes get very little rasp at around 2.7k - 3.0 k RPM's, but only when WOT. It doesn't happen all the times, but when it does, its so little that I can hardly hear it from the inside or the outside. I also get an unknown vibration noise at around 5K under WOT. It's not rasp, but it could be that maybe its vibrating my cabin alot.

I'm a little paranoid now about the cops. Around here, cops aren't so concerned about modified cars, especially luxury cars. I was paranoid about my no-plates & tints 1 year and a half ago too, but cops don't mind it around here. But removing the cats is a much more risky modification in California.

Now that I think of it, for a daily driver, HFC would probably be the better option. I love these test pipes, but they aren't so conveniant for every day use. I still have no regrets though. I love the sound!

Yea the fi resonated tps are specifically designed for the fi exhaust so there isn't any rasp...that's what fast intentions told me and you just confirmed

it...I wish I did more research before buying my testpipes, I would've saved myself the money on the install and uninstall...I did do a quick search before but

came up with nothing...it wasn't until after I bought the testpipes that I pmed a few members with the same set up as me...all of them had rasp...It

bothered a few of them and some didn't mind it...

Before buying I listened to sound clips and the ones I found sounded so good, but you gotta hear exhaust setups in person to truly know what they'll sound

like...my testpipes and exhaust sounded just like the youtube clips when revving at idle, but when going WOT it was different from a youtube driveby

clip I found...No rasp in the clip, but rasp in real life...

My setup wasn't all bad though...I remember the first day I put them on, I went through an underpass below the rasp point and it sounded

incredible...sounded like a supercar...I also noticed a gain in performance that I miss.

I agree with you on this...I'm gonna go with FI HFC next...for a daily driver testpipes are not very practical, BUT I would of still kept them if my setup

didn't have any rasp...That was the main downside that got to me.

I had this too...after I got the testpipes my rearview mirror and sunroof started vibrating...after I took out the testpipes the vibrating noises stopped.
