removing muffler

Everyonce in a while ive been disconnecting the muffler from my exhaust and driving around for a few days before putting it back on, it sounds pretty crazy and really gets attention. my dad always freaks out when i tell him about this b.c obviously the engine is loosing some back pressure..does anyone think this is bad for the engine?

not bad for it, but yes you are losing back pressure and power. try taking off your headers...you'll gain sound and next to nothing power!
