Intake heat shield

Anyone tried to fabricate their own?? I'm about to make my own... I "borrowed" a small metal office garbage basket. I will cut it up and wrap it in thermal wrap... anyone tried this with other material?

i rigged up a homemade shield on my old maxima using a roof flashing from lowes or home depot. see if you can find a picture on google and you should be able to find one that will right behind a cone filter after a quick slit. i think they make them out of metal but i used a black abs plastic one.

Don't waste your time. Heat shields are worthless for intakes. It's the ambient temp under the hood that hurts the performance, not really the direct radient heat from the motor.

when i had my cai i used the heat shield to protect the filter from dirt. i put it on the bottom of the filter. u would be suprised how much less u have to clean the filter.

SMART! I use the water sheild that is made for my intake filter and its actually better for blocking excess dirt than water. All I do is remove the sheild and wash it off.
