A silly question about exhaust

The other day I was thinking about exhaust for my car. I wanted to go from borla exhaust to a whole topspeed exhaust. I am thinking in a logic sense... With true dual exhaust.. more air flow right? So does that mean with true dual exhaust you gain more power? Or it doesn't really matter..? I know that with smaller pipe you get more torgue... correct me if I am wrong. What kind of exhaust should I go for if I am eventually gonna go turbo?? Any response would be greatly appreciated!

If you are going TURBO, you want an exhaust that is as free open as possible... Like a true dual with larger piping... but that same exhaust will not perform as well on your NA motor.

Basically, IMHO, for NA, pick an exhaust you like the look and sound of. You will be debating a 1-2 HP difference between pretty much any of the cat back exhausts on the market.

Find something you like the look of and if you can hear it, the sound of too. And you will be happy no matter what...

I am not saying it wont work well for an NA car,

Just saying what would be ideal for a Turbo car...

most of the exhausts made for the G are meant for NA unless it is a TURBO Exhaust anyway...

Like I said, you cant go wrong getting something you like the look and sound of...

True dual will work fine, what he meant was that 3" piping (what you'd need for a turbo) will be too unrestricted for an N/A motor, and you will lose power. 2.25"-2.5" exhaust piping is good for N/A.

^^ +1 if your going to stay n/a then get a 2.5 but if you plan on going TURBO get 3 inch piping...

if you like top speed pro they make both 2.5 and 3 inch exhaust.... but its not a true dual or full exhaust so you will need to have a exhaust shop custom make the rest of the exhaust...

fast intentions has a very nice exhaust also

+2 on what jason said, if you're staying NA a true dual or "y-pipe" exhaust isnt going to be any noticable difference. I was contemplating making my greddu evo 2 into having an x pipe instead of a y-pipe but Im debating whether its even worth the money. The borla you have now is fine.

It is fine.. It's just that I am getting sick of the borla sound and I want to go with something thats more noticeable.. Hey you go to Cal Poly Pomona? I am at Sac right now and couple of my homies goes to Cal Poly. What color is your G? Do you ever see a white SC400 lowered with some black rims? Thats my friend.

what physics are behind the loss of power associated with 3" pipes on a NA engine?
