JWT already lost blue color?

I've had my JWT pop charger for about a month now with 500 miles on it and it lost it's blue shade to it. I was wondering if this is normal this early. When I recieved the popchager much of the oil had came off in the bag. So just wondering do I need to recharge or will I be ok for another 10000 miles or so like they say?

-Noa

Re: JWT already lost blue color?

I installed JWT Pop Charger 2 months ago. I've checked engine room every day since I installed it. There is no problem. The shape and color of Pop charger is about same comparing the brand new condition. In addition, I drove more than 4000 miles after the installation.
PS. I live in Southern California. ^^

Mine is starting to discolor and also feel a bit on the dry side. It's been about 3 months and around 3k miles. I've decided to clean and re-oil the filter. Better safe than sorry

Not,

Other than the discoloration, how do you like the JWT and the Z-tube? Are you satisfied with the performance gains, growl/noise, etc.? How was installation?

Thanks!

Re: JWT already lost blue color?

i've driven with mine for about 2000 miles now and has lost most of it's color.. then again, i did get it used from a friend, so that's understandable.. i'm goin to clean it and reoil it sometime this weekend or the next..

in regards to performance gains, there's supposed to be 5-6, but you can't realli feel it.. maybe the RPMs rev a little faster, but nothing that you can totalli feel the difference.. in regards to noise, there's that whistle sound.. and installation is EXTREMELY easy..

Re: JWT already lost blue color?

The color is dictated by the oil, as it picks up more sediment, it will discolor.

Yes, the K&N oil will turn it Red. And someone dumb will ask you what Stillen filter your have?

03 - Black - Premium - Wood - Aero w/ Spoiler - Z Tube - Grounded - Stillen CAI

Re: JWT already lost blue color?

You guys realize that the colour is just there to ensure even application of the oil after cleaning right? It's doesn't really indicate that the filter is dry.

If you put too much oil on after application, or unevenly, you run the risk of ruining your MAF sensor. The only time you should really be re-oiling or cleaning is after your filter gets really dirty and has built up some crud on it.

It's the over enthusiastic oilers and cleaners of these oil-charged filters that cause warranty problems with their MAFs, so be careful. It's a case of faulty "If a little is good, then more must be better" thinking.
