I've had the Stillen HiFlow AirBox with the 350Z tube for about
nine months now. I have never heard the "whistle". All I hear
is the nice growl from the Z tube up to around 4000 rpm,
then the Stillen starts to howl. I also get a nice exhaust note
that was not there before.

Since I have never driven a G35 with the Injen, I could not say.
However, the Ztube by it'self produces no whistle, just an intoxicating
growl. Couple the Ztube with the Stillen, the growl turns into
a howl at high rpms, no whistle at all.

"Is the Stillen airbox with Z tube any better than stock?"

Yes, in my opinion. Both are good systems that incorporate a velocity ring, large cone air filter and heat shield into their design.

However, after a side by side comparsion, I believe Stillen's CAI is better than JWT's Popcharger. I like the JWT air filter design, but Stillen's heat shield is significantly better, IMO. The top, back and entire engine side of the air filter is totally shielded from engine heat and therefore "heat soak" during low speed operation.

The picture shows the velocity ring mounted through the Stillen heat shield to the mass air flow sensor. When mounted in place, the open side of the heat shield is against the driver's side inner fender.

Before flaming, please remember this is my opinion. You're entitled to yours.

Re: Injen CAI vs. Ztube/JWT popcharger

I've had the Z Tube/Pop Charger combo and just switched to the Nismo CAI...IMO the JWT heat shield does SQUAT. As long as the filter position is right in the engine bay, you will suck in TONS of hot air. Shield or no shield..Plus the shield looked like total crap. With a TRUE CAI, the filter position allows much more cold air than "short-ram". The great thing about the Nismo(AEM) is the by-pass valve in case the filter gets wet...No water ingestion potential...

Re: Injen CAI vs. Ztube/JWT popcharger

Me and my buddy have almost the exact same setup except for the intake. I had the Stillen Air Box and he has the Injen CAI. He always had a strong pull on me and higher trap speeds at the drag strip. We dynoed within 2 hp of each other on back to back dynos.
So I broke down and got the injen CAI (thanks volksracing) and had the best 1/4 mile run ever on street tires, beating my old best by over .2 secs., and withing .06 secs of my buddies best time.
I am a firm believer in the Injen. I believe you can't get real world conditions on a dyno.
btw, we installed the Injen without taking off the bumper or the wheel.
