The heavy foot theory is so true. My size 15 right foot can't come off that gas lol. Seriously though, Z-tube and coupe middy put in a month ago at the same time and I catch myself muting my loud music just to hear that baby. Sounds like heaven. Soon adding a stillen gen 2, then I might just unplug my subs and stereo lol

Yeah, uh-huh... just gonna do this one leetle teeny mod...

I said that too...
then "just a couple leetle mods..."
then "nothing big like fi or anything like that, just gonna make it handle, yeah, just suspension stuff" (Now there's nothing left to do to my suspension and I know the pro's and con's and price's of most fi systems and bbks on the market.)

My new logic? FI and BBK will cost me far less than the Porsche 911 I want.

Want some Crack? Just one time won't hurt you! Com'on man, it feels so good! (...and he's worried about his gas mileage!)

Take my advice, if you're worried about gas mileage, DONT START MODDING!

BTW, I get between 14.5-16mpg unless I'm on the highway. It's called WOT on the Daily Driver Daily. As the Mickey D ads say, "I'm lovin it!"

Only diff with Z tube is it doesn't have the sound resonators that the Infiniti tube has. Z-Tube is a sound mod...that's all it is.

Increase mpg...no. Decrease mpg...depends what your ears tell your brain that tells your foot.

I'd have speculated that No resonators = less turbulence = more flow = more air and more fuel combusted = more power.

I dunno how much but theoretically I'd think there should be a little gain.

There's a pretty robust thread on the subject here:

Reload this Page Dyno'd Z-tube+K&N replacment filter

It seems to come closest to concluding that you are right, that there isn't, for practical purposes anyway, any difference other than sound. Sad but true.

I am confused. i have an AWD sedan (already screwed with mileage). installed the Z tube and now i feel like my car idles at higher RPMs and navigation screen/computer has been showing approx 16 mpg opposed to the usual 19mpg. I dont see how theoretically a z tube can add MPG. it adds power, with that shouldnt you always be losing.

i do admit i like to step on it now because the car pulls noticeably harder and sounds great at about 3.5k, however, ever since i installed it, my computer has been showing consistently lower MPG records.

I concur... That roar never gets old either
