Hi-Flow CC in Sedan

Who here has an aftermarket hi-flow catalytic converter in their sedan? I'm considering going with the Kinetix since I'm also buying their plenum.

Also, does the sedan have 1 or 2 converters in it?

Re: Hi-Flow CC in Sedan

The sedan has cats like the coupe, the cats are the same. I like the Crawfords better the Kinetix. I have read about fitment priblems with the Kinetix. Both flow about the same, but I believe the Crawfords, just a bit better. My Crawfords fit like a glove, everything up perfectly, and the sound is to die for. A bit more power. The Crawfords are great, and the construction was top notch.

Re: Hi-Flow CC in Sedan

There ARE fitment issues with the Crawford and RT cats (maybe others as well) ont eh SEDAN. I have had both and in both cases I had to modify (read: cut) cut a portion of the double-wall facing the cats. One member just contacte me with that same problem looking for a solution - he had jsut gotten the Crawford ones.

Now, from looking at the Kinteix cats, I will make a bet that they will have the same problem. THey are smaller than Crawford's and about the same size as the RT (if not larger). Given that I did have a problem installing the RT cats, I think that these would necessitate a slight modification as well.

Re: Hi-Flow CC in Sedan

Great, then Kinetix falsely advertises their product. That truly makes me not want to buy it. They stated "no fitment issues" for the G35 sedan and coupe to me in an e-mail. Oh well.

What I was truly hoping for was a hi-flow catylitic converter that will be a simple bolt on, and hate the idea of cutting up floorboards.

Does anyone know if the Kinetix cats (or any other high flow cats) will make the car sound raspy? I have a Greddy EVO exhaust, Z-Tube/PopCharger and will be adding the Kinetix plenum. I truly don't want the car to end up sounding lilke a bumblebee on steroids.

Re: Hi-Flow CC in Sedan

I'm sorry, with my knowledge base, I believed the coupe to have the same stock cats as the sedan, therefore, I believed there would be no fitment issues, as I had none on my coupe with my Crawfords. As far as sound goes, they are deep and mellow. No raspiness for me. In fact a resonance that I had with my fabricated dual exhaust system has disappeared with the Crawfords.

The cats are the same. What's different is the floorboard.

I have Kinetix cats on my 6MT sedan. There was an initial fitment issue due to the floorboard, but my muffler shop was able to bend stuff and take care of it.

Send an email to Kinetix racing if you want--I've heard rumors that they have modified the design to handle the G35 sedan.

Re: Hi-Flow CC in Sedan

I installed Gurgen's Crawford cats when he moved to the RTs.. Suprisingly, I had no fitment issues requiring "the cut". and no, the cats weren't "modified" or assisted in any way.

Gurgen has an 03 and I have an 03.5. Hmmm??!!!

Re: Hi-Flow CC in Sedan

I installed the Crawford cats last week on my sedan, and my installer had to modify the heatshield in order to make the cats fit. It seems to me that Gurgen had to modify the Crawford cats when he installed it on his sedan.

No, I had to modify the bosy of the car to make them fit, not the cats themselves.

Re: Hi-Flow CC in Sedan

What gains (if any) would I have by installing the hi-flow cats on the sedan w/ the stock exhaust?

Nuttyprof,

You mean my setup, correct? Yes it does sound amazing But loud, not for the faint of heart. I think they are a littel louder than the others, maybe they flow better than the others not sure.
