Oh wow, dirty filter! Now it's time to change your cabin filter and see what it looks like.

not in the 'o4....it was quite a project . Thanks to this video for helping me do it..

UPDATE: I just filled up after finishing my first full tank since the filter replacement and my MPG was up by 1.8 I'll keep an eye on my gas mileage in the near future and see how it compares to the dirty filter era..

Anything close to 15,000 miles on our G35's requires an air filter change. In the old days, we could go 35,000 miles before an air filter replacement on the older cars. Things have changed. Infiniti knows how to make money in the service dept!

You're welcome..

Also, I'd say your photo comparison isn't very fair since you are comparing an OEM filter to a white aftermarket filter. I've seen oem filters that were much dirtier also. It never hurts to change it though.

Talk about dirty....!

I was helping my son in law do some maintenance on his G35. I'd given him a
K&N filter 2 years prior and asked him if he'd cleaned it....not yet. I took
the filter out, it was sooooo filthy you couldn't see the ribs on the filter. I
dropped it on the garage floor and couldn't believe the dirt that fell out. After
cleaning the filter I told him, "Cleaning this filter is better than a tune up!"

I have had my G for about 5 months, and it has 12600 miles on it now, and the filter looks dirty like it is notbody's business.

I am going to replace it here on the next oil cheange, but these things to get pretty dirty.
