I was under the impression that you would get around 10-15
WHP from a Y pipe upgrade. I also hoped you would say it
pulled you back into the seat like taking off in a rocket ship.
Keep your impressions coming. Do you have an intake
upgrade as well?

Re: Pics: NFC Y-Pipe

Well from what I've read on my350z.com, full catback systems gave a stock 350z about 10-12 rwhp. From companies such as Japtrix and NFC, just the Y-pipe alone made about 5-6 rwhp. And that would make sense since it is the most restrictive part. When I did my WOT run and shifted at redline up to 4th, it did feel like it pulled better and pushed me back in my seat harder. The grin on my face after that was from ear to ear. My former 3rd generation Eclipse could never do that. Now if you want some rocket ship action, a simple exhaust change isn't going to do it. FI or NOS would be in order for that. The only intake mod I've done is the Z tube. I don't plan on doing anything else as the stock airbox is already well optimized.

Now that you have had this Y pipe for awhile, what do you
think about it now?

Re: Pics: NFC Y-Pipe

I still stick to my original review. Down low between 1500-2000 it does add a deeper tone, especially so with my Magnaflow 22" resonator in place of the stock sedan resonator. But not overly loud or annoying. Cruising between 2-3K it still pretty much sounds stock. Once you get over 4K your engine roar will drown out any exhaust notes anyway. As far as power wise I still say you can't feel much with your butt dyno. 5-6 rwhp just isn't registerable by some average joe like me if at all possible. It does feel like it does pull a bit harder after 4K up to redline. It's too bad I couldn't do a before and after dyno on the same day. Don't have the time nor money to blow.
