Crawford Intake Plenum Fit and Finish

I am really considering getting the Crawford Intake Plenum. The only hang up I have is the fit and finish. First off i dont want just a bare engine sitting under my hook for personal aesthetics as well as if i need to take it in for service. I know you can put the stock engine cover back on but it dones fit properly either. Does anyone know if Crawford is planning to correct this?

Re: Crawford Intake Plenum Fit and Finish

How could they? The whole concept is to raise the plenum
up over the two front cylinders, causing the hood to touch the
cover. Just get the 350Z engine cover and get it to fit.

Re: Crawford Intake Plenum Fit and Finish

I know what you mean will_blueprint. I don't like it bare, and I don't like the rigged, obviously cut up, assymetrical look of modifying the engine cover either.

I've got one coming next Wednesday and I ordered it in Black, to match the rest of the engine bay. He'll powder coat it for you in several colors. I'm also thinking of doing it in red, then painting fluid covers red, and putting red silocone hoses in there, as well as painting the battery cover red etc. I'll also maybe paint my calipers red. I'm thinking this might satisfy my irrational desire for aesthetics for something I'll rarely see.

Re: Crawford Intake Plenum Fit and Finish

I was able to get the stock cover back on with the older style Crawford, but it was a little curved on the right front corner by the oil fill. The hood closed fine with no interference. I dont know about the new version, but I took my old crawford off and went back to stock due to weird noises and the dyno showing a HP and torque loss with it. I know I'm the only person in history with a loss, but the numbers were pretty clear. Do youself a favor and dyno before and after to be sure.

Re: Crawford Intake Plenum Fit and Finish

I have the standard V5 in the standard finish on my DG Coupe. I cut my cover to make it fit. The finish of the plenum, while not show quality, is plenty good. IMO, I think it looks pretty good.

lowrider, in the pic, see how the popcharger bends to the right? It should be straight to clear the AC line. The heat shield bracket needs to be shorter.

Re: Crawford Intake Plenum Fit and Finish

Ya, I know about the problem, when I read about it, I chacked my installation, and no problem. My A/C line runs along the side of the engine compartment, no where the POPCharger. Thanks for the interest.

Re: Crawford Intake Plenum Fit and Finish

Looks Good mstil, however, IMO, the 350Z cover and the covers designed for the "Z", are too long in front, and come too close to the Center air scoop. Some of them even rub. Did you have to do anything about the rub? But again, that's just my my opinion.

Lou, do you have a DIY for your sweet engine cover modification?
