Stillen OR JWT
Re: Stillen OR JWT
I like Stillen's filter enclosure but wanted to try JWT's open ended air filter so...

Hey Dave_O,
It looks like you put the JWT Pop Charger filter in your
Stillen Box! Doesn't that mean you paid $260 for the Stillen
and then another hundred or so for the Pop Charger filter?
Or did you get a deal on just the filter part? I'm curious,
do you notice any difference?

Re: Stillen OR JWT
Exactly Cato.
I usually have two filters for any CAI I've owned. That way I can keep my car streetable and have plenty of time to properly clean, dry, oil and blot the dirty air filter.
After doing a side by side comparsion, it was obvious the JWT & Stillen CAI components will interchange, I decided to try out the JWT air filter.
The Performance Nissan Team was kind enough to arrange to sell me a filter. For those who are interested, they've added it to their catalog.
Differences? Slightly lower dbs... most likely due to the different internal construction. No measureable difference in gas mileage. I'll need some G-Tech Comp Pro runs to see if there's any performance effects.

Re: Stillen OR JWT
DaveO,
So you bought it for $57.95 from Performance Nissan. I
suppose the Stillen venturi ring did fit the JWT filter?
I would guess it had to fit, otherwise you wouldn't be able
to use the Stillen box. Very interesting! If Stillen saw it
I bet they would be pissed off. Send them a pic of it, tell
them that JWT is not only cutting into their business, but
are giving away free filters if you replace the Stillen with
theirs! HaHaHaHa Take that! Stillen.

Re: Stillen OR JWT
cato,
As I said in my previous post... the components are interchangable.
Stillen knows about it. I've asked them to consider selling their air filter enclosure (heat shield) separately to those Popcharger owners who are concerned about heat soak at idle and low speeds.
