Need Advice: Picking My 1st Bolt-On for '06 G35 Coupe 6MT!
Need Advice: Picking My 1st Bolt-On for '06 G35 Coupe 6MT!
I decided since I absolutely love the looks of this car stock, love the wheels, love the drop, love the HID's, love the interior, I should just start off doing bolt-ons instead of doing my typical cosmetic mods, etc.
I have heard great things about some Motordyne 5/16 plenum spacer and isothermal gasket? I just went to the website and was lost as to what to buy. I'm looking for the #1 best bang for your buck modification because in my previous Acura CL I would hardly notice a difference throwing a bolt-on on that car. With the G I want to NOTICE a difference.
Does the spacer change the sound at all?
I know it's rare but I would really like to break until the 13.1-13.2 range with bolt-ons if it's possible. All I really want in a car is to have enough power to keep up with an E46 M3 from a dig or from the highway. If I'm forced to suck it up and eventually buy a S/C so be it.
Thanks!

I would say the Motordyne 5/16 spacer with ISO thermal gasket is definitely the best bang for your buck, especially for a first mod. You will feel the power difference. The spacer changes the sound a little bit. If youre looking to go fast, best thing to do is go straight for the supercharger though. You'll spend close to the same amount as buying N/A stuff, and you'll have more power.

+1 to the above.
You have the 06 6MT so that means you have the REVUP engine.
And the REVUP engine makes REALLY good gains with the MREV2 and 5/16" spacer.
As for the spacer type, I generally recommend the 5/16" Iso Thermal.
If you live in an area where it gets really cold on a regular basis, then get the Copper Iso Thermal.

Yes, MREV2.
Also an important note. If you can only do one or the other. (The spacer or MREV2) Start with the MREV2. It will make really good gains.
Adding the spacer later for additional top end will be much simpler.
