Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to put a custom heat shield in there car in order to protect from heat soak into their intake filter?

I just purchased a popcharger with a shield but I want to get the best performance out of it and I have access to sheet metal in order to custom make one to fit my 05 sedan. If I can figure some sort of template out, I can begin to make them for any pop charger owners looking to protect from heat soak. Let me know guys...

hey guys, what im in the process of doing is constructing an air box that not only with prevent most of the warm air that causes heat soak into filters, but im planning on making it to where most of the cold air that runs under the car will be deflected up into the air box, giving the filter colder air to breathe, much like a cold air intake system. basically it will be based off of the stock air box/stillen high flow box. im constructing it with HVAC sheet metal which helps block out warm air.

5150DS, i see that you modified your stock air box, what exactly did you do?

Not much, I really just took off the resonators under the box. I want to put tubing from the lower grille area to the box, but have not had the time to do it.

ok im planning on getting started on a template and designs tomorrow, so i will get back to everyone about this either tomorrow night or monday...

Took a long look today in the engine bay. There really is no room to add any sort of scoop to send the cold air up towards the filter. In my sedan the bottom diffuser blocks all air, and the intercooler/grill area cant really be used bc there are way too many wires and harnesses under the stock airbox. So its looking like Im just gonna build the custom heat shield/box and start getting some results. I have measurements and started on a template, more info later this week...

i made one when I got my AEM CAI and didn't feel like running it CAI.. I didn't see any gains but it was a fun weekend project. I got some metal and insulation from home depot and made a little makeshift one
