NEW Motordyne Exhaust, Titanium and Dual Setups!
#843
I only have one part left to build for the 350Z and G35. The new test pipes.
After that comes the 370Z and G37. And when I do thoes parts the development process will go a lot faster because so many of the modules will transfer right over.
The hardest work has already been done.
Oh, and I got the other prototypes in! I'll get you pics ASAP.

hey can anyone help me
installed my shockwave TI today and just ran into 1 small niggling problem
I got the alignment perfect of the tips, however the right side sits higher than the left side? I cant bring it down any more and if i bend the place there theere is the holder the exhaust will lower and i am too scared will be too close to the HKS sway bar.
Also, i dont know if i missed anything in the install, but what are the 3 thick washers / spacers for?
Thanks
-Mark
(PS Awesome sounding exhaust and very streetable!)

A quick update!
Wait until you hear sound clips of Shockwave))) V2 axleback. All the loudness of Shockwave))) but with ZERO drone. It worked much better than expected.
It uses a sidebranch helmholtz resonator like the HKS exhaust, but rather than using a axial flow through muffler it uses the straight pipe of the Shockwave))). The only purpose of the sidebranch resonator is to notch out the drone. I hoped for a ~6 db reduction in drone but it went down at least 15db. In fact, I think the only sound the db level meter was reading was the baseline mid-high exhaust frequencies and general road noise. There really was no drone.
And there was another interesting effect. Although it is just as loud as the Shockwave))), from inside the car its surprisingly reasonable and streetable.
And this was tested on a TDX exhaust on a auto G35 with HFC's. The TDX on a auto with HFC's is by far the combination that is most susceptible to drone. ...This new axleback prototype completely killed it.
Today was a good day for exhaust testing. I'll get pictures uploaded shortly. This one will go into production for sure. No drone!
PS - This new axleback section has also been modified to allow for a greater range of adjustability of the tips.

It sure was a good day! Tony isn't exaggerating when he says there's no drone, it completely killed it. I first noticed the drone was gone the moment I turned the car on, the difference is night and day.
It was great finally meeting you Tony, thanks for the tips
. I'll comment and give a better review tomorrow after work, as well as edit some sound clips for everyone to hear
.
Edit: Just noticed you went with the name suggestion haha

It has been suggested that this first prototype be called Shockwave))) V2. What do you think?
Functionally, it has the same mid-range and high frequency sound and loudness as the Shockwave))) but the side branch resonator works as a high pass filter and it totally kills the drone.

In the picture below both types of Blue Ti tips are shown. Blue straight lip on the left. Blue rolled lip on the right.
Some people like them rolled. Some like them with the straight lip. You can have it either way. Even in Silver Titanium!

Here are some more pictures of the same parts at different angles.

The parts shown above are prototypes that were built on my Z. The production version will be a lot cleaner than these.
The 06 6MT Z with stock cats and the regular Shockwave))) doesn't have a problem with drone. But the owner of the G35 below (Fab) had HFC's connected to the TDX and he has a automatic transmission and it had bad drone. After these new axlebacks were installed the drone completely vanished. Gone. Drone problem solved!
I was reluctant to bring the 350Z TDX exhaust to the market until the drone problem could be solved. Now that is has been solved, I will move forward with the TDX for the 350.
